Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my journey around the world as I tackle forty countries by my 40th birthday.  Come along with me and share my adventures in travel, culture, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Beat It!

The late Kanye West said it best, “I’ll be there in 5 minutes.  Five hours later….I’ll be there in 5 minutes.”  It used to take me forever to get ready, I mean I had this whole drawn out routine that I thought I needed to do to make myself club ready. I mean seriously, I clearly had too much time and energy to waste in my early twenties.  As I have aged, I have transitioned from nightclubs to happy hour.  Happy hour happens so soon after work, I had to learn very quickly how to apply my face and in less than an hour.  In my head, I can beat my face in 15 minutes, in reality it is more like 20-30 minutes—I will show you the way my young Jedi’s.

The must haves for a good quick face.

1.       Concealer

2.       Foundation

3.       Highlighter

4.       Eyebrow pencil

5.       Eyeshadow palette

6.       Eyeliner

7.       Mascara

8.       Lipstick or gloss

9.       Good quality make-up brushes

10.   Setting spray

Step 1: Fill in those brows.  I recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz and brow gel in clear. (I know I didn’t mention the brow gel in the must haves, it is an option item.)

Step 2: Conceal the day away.  I recommend NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.  It works to highlight your brows and cover up dark spots and under eye circles.

Step 3: Foundation! Foundation! Foundation!  I recommend you use a foundation that offers full coverage without being too heavy.  Additionally, it must control the dryness or oiliness of your skin.  I flip between MAC studio fix powder plus foundation and Anastasia Beverly Hills stick foundation.  I prefer to apply my foundation with a brush vice a sponge but both methods of application provide a flawless finish.

Step 4: Highlight for your life.  I recommend Fenty Beauty killawatt freestyle highlighter…I mean duh!  Rihanna has put highlighter on the map and her highlighter is everything I tell you!

So here is where it gets tricky.  At this stage I have to make the hardest decision ever…a bold eye or a bold lip. More often than not I will chose the latter.  I am a sucker for a funky lip.

Step 5 funky lip edition: Eye spy a cat eye.  If you would have asked me a year ago I would recommend Kat Von D tattoo liner.  Mover over Kat! Rihanna has taken over.  I recommend Fenty Beauty flyliner.  The easy to hold liner makes it impossible to make a mistake when doing your eyeliner.  Don’t forget your mascara.  I have tried them all! Right now I am using Sephora Collection lashcraft mascara.

Step 5 sexy eyes edition: You say shadow eye say shadow. I recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills soft glam palette.  It is simple yet bold.  Highly pigmented colors that work well for day or night wear—apply 2-3 shades and blend like your life depends on it.  Complete your look with a good eyeliner and mascara.  I recommend Fenty Beauty flyliner and Sephora Collection lashcraft mascara.

Step 6: LIPS!  My favorite part of putting on my makeup is choosing a lipstick color.  I can’t recommend my favorite because I have waaay too many brands and colors.

Well readers that is that.  Let know your makeup techniques.
