Vacation. Staycation. Tomato. Tomato.
UGH!!! Take me back to Brazil…I don’t know about you, but I like to ride the wave of my vacation as long as possible. I look back at old pictures, show off my tan, and reminisce about all the amazing memories created with family or friends. Time and money prevent us from taking time off as often as we need—it is imperative that we maximize the time with our loved ones. If your life is a crazy as mine, it gets more and more difficult to take vacation much less ride that vacation wave until your next get away. When I am in a post vacation rut I do things to put me in the vacation state of mind without traveling far or spending much money. Plan your next staycation, you can thank me later.
Turn your phone off. I know it is hard! The feeling of having the world at your fingertips is addicting. When you are traveling, especially out of the country, your signal is more often than not going to be spotty or require Wi-Fi. Do yourself a favor, turn off your data for the day…or the weekend if you’re daring, and see how much better you feel.
Check out the new exhibit at your favorite art museum. You can be transported to Paris or Spain and see the city from the eyes of Monet or Picasso. Take the day to fall in love with the art and forget about the hustle and bustle of your daily routine.
Hit a local hotspot. Treat yourself to a fancy dinner or a fun cocktail. We vacation to get away from the monotony that life has the tendency to become. Get out there and go dancing, relieve some stress, and reward yourself for life’s small victories.
Your next vacation is closer than you think. Staycation counts as a mini vacation. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Happy staycationing friends.
